Top 10 Ways To Feel At Home

Top Ten Ways To Feel At Home…

Just moved to the area and looking for a new church? Been coming for years and want to get to know all the new people? Just not sure where you fit in?
This guide is for you!

#10 Find Out What Is Going On

Join the Worship Connect email list, check out the website: mylakeside.ca, and visit our welcome centre for an information package and details about our Ministries. We would really appreciate it if you would fill out a
Connection Card so we can get to know you better as well.

#9 Introduce Yourself To The Person Beside You

They might be new to the church just  like you, or a member who can answer your questions. Shake hands and find out! It’s okay if you have forgotten a name! Everyone has permission to ask, and has already forgiven you if you forgot.

#8 Hang Around After The Service

Get a coffee in the Library Cafe, meet a pastor or elder, or chat with our friendly greeters (they have name tags). The rooms are busy and sometimes noisy; that’s the sound of community!

#7 Attend A Newcomers
Lunch

Watch the announcements for an upcoming Newcomers Lunch. You can meet others new to the church, the pastors and other leaders, and get tasty food too.
What a deal!

#6 Accept (or make) An Invitation

If you hang around the lobby long enough you just may get invited over for lunch, but you don’t have to wait. Just about anybody is looking for an excuse to get to know you, so invite that family or person you sat beside and continue the conversation over lunch.

#5 Join A Life Group

Corporate worship is God glorifying, but church intersects our life most directly in small groups. Ask a  greeter or pastor about what groups are taking place now and how to connect.

#4 Join Us In Prayer

You really get to know people when you hear them pray and pray for them. Join one of our corporate prayer times. We are blessed just by your being there to listen, seek God’ s will, and worship in this way with us.

#3 Take Ownership

You don’t have to attend for very long before you should start to say  “my church” instead of  “the church” or “your church”. We are all part of God’ s church so you can say “my church” as soon as you like.

#2 Get Involved In A Ministry

Everyone has different talents and gifts that can be put to use in building the Kingdom. We need your help! Any elder or ministry leader can help you find an area where you can join us in serving our brothers and sisters and the community around us.

#1 Become A Member

If you attend like a member, serve like a member, give like a member, pray like a member, share and care like a member… you should be a member! Stop dating the church and commit yourself to a local body of Christ so we can work together in    discipleship and Kingdom building.
