The purpose of Lakeside Afterschool Program – LAP is to serve the Haliburton community by providing meaningful recreational and social experiences for students, grades 3-5.  Students will meet at the Stuart Baker School and participate in the program at Lakeside Church.  Leaders & Kids will walk to Lakeside Church.

The program aims to stimulate students’ social, physical, and intellectual abilities through participation in basic life skills as well as recreational activities with their school peers.  These may include playing games & sports, creating crafts and projects, participating in various forms of art, sewing and cooking.  Relationship building, learning new skills and trying something new in a safe and positive environment,  is the primary purpose of the program.

Life-skills and recreational activities will include different segments each month and after every segment there will be a cooking class.  The Cooking Club will cook and serve a meal for their families on the last Wednesday of every month that we meet.   There is a minimal cost for the Cooking Club participants as well as for some, not all, segments.  The spaces may be limited due to space and volunteers.
