Treasure In Jars Of Clay

We really want the gospel and God to look good. So much so that we are tempted to help God out by carefully manufacturing a façade of ease, happiness, and success in our Christian lives. We cover up weakness, filter out failure and hide our suffering for fear that God won’t look great unless we look impressive. But the Apostle Paul took just the opposite approach. He confessed his weakness, celebrated his suffering, rejoiced in adversity. Paul knew that powerful, impressive people are not who God chooses to use. God stores his treasure in ordinary, earthen vessels, so that His power and glory are made known, not ours.
