The Sinful Woman
When a prostitute makes her way into Simon’s dinner party and starts making a scene at the feet of Jesus, He uses the moment to teach us an important lesson about forgiveness. We can know a lot of facts about Jesus, we can appreciate His teaching, we can agree with His stance on social justice, we can have all our bible knowledge lined up just right… and still not be saved. This account teaches us that true forgiveness only follows a profound, intimate encounter with the person of Jesus Christ. It is how our heart responds to Jesus that reveals where we stand with Him. When you hear people say “It’s a relationship, not a religion,” this is what they mean.
