The Resurrection – What Does It Mean?
Resurrection – What Does It Mean?
In C.S. Lewis’ famous book “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe” the lion Aslan offers himself as a willing sacrifice in the place of Edmund, the child who betrayed Aslan’s army, and his own family. The White Witch humiliates and kills Aslan, his body on display on the Stone Table of the Law that called for his death. But as morning dawns the children discover Aslan’s body is gone and, more happily, he is even alive! They are overcome with joy at seeing him; but when they are a little calmer, the elder sister stops and thinks and asks… “But what does it all mean?” This is the most important question we can ever ask at Easter. Something incredible has happened – something mysterious and terrible and wonderful, something that has never happened before or will again… But wait – what does it all mean?
