Resisting Temptation
Both Joseph and Potiphar’s wife were tempted. Both Joseph and Potiphar’s wife are in pursuit of their heart’s greatest desire. But as the story is told from each perspective, the writer reveals that not all affections are equal; some desires will destroy and others will bring life. We are surprised to discover in the actions of Joseph that our ability to resist temptation is not really a matter of self-denial, but rather knowing and cherishing a far superior satisfaction that eclipses all others.
