Remorse Or Repentance
There is a difference between remorse and repentance. It is possible to feel remorse, regret and grief over our actions, and yet not confess them and deal with them honestly before God. As we continue this week in the account of Joseph, 22 years have passed since he was thrown into a pit and sold into slavery by his brothers. They have never in all that time come to terms with the evil they had done. But God will not leave old sin buried in His children to fester in regret and result in death. If He must, God will open old wounds, unearth buried secrets, and drag our sin from the darkness into the light so that His grace, forgiveness and healing can restore us to life.
