Parable Of The Talents

In Matthew 24-25 Jesus tells a series of stories that all teach a different aspect of “waiting”. The master, the groom, the landowner, is returning and how are his servants meant to wait? How do we spend our lives, until the end? In the parable of the “talents” Jesus makes it clear that our waiting is not passive, but active. We have been trusted with the wealth of the estate owner, and as we wait for his return we are meant to use what he has given to increase his estate. If we do so, the reward is more than we can imagine, and  joining into His happiness. But if we waste our time while he is away, and build our own kingdom instead of his, then even what we build for ourselves here will eventually be taken away; we will have nothing and no reward, only loss.
