Joseph – Blessing The Nations

As Joseph is lifted by God into a position of power, influence, and authority the scriptures unfold for us an example for us to emulate, and a purpose for us to pursue. Joseph neither rebelled against God when suffering in prison, nor did he forget God when he was secure in the palace. As God was faithful to His covenant promise, Joseph proved faithful to God. A promise that the decedents of Abraham would be a blessing to the whole world. Joseph opens the storehouses of grain to rescue the world from famine, and prefigures Christ, the ultimate source of blessing and life to a starving world. At the same time Joseph exemplifies for us, co-heirs of the same promise (Galatians 3:29), the purpose God has for His church today to still bless and offer life a world in need.
