Job v God
If it wasn’t enough that Job had to contend with his friends, Job also was in contention with God. In chapter 9 Job contemplates taking God to court. A trial between himself and God to once and for all get the answer to the most important question of His life. If I am supposed to be guilty, then “How can mortal man ever stand righteous before God?” But as Job contemplates this trial with God he realizes that he will never stand before God alone. He needs a defense lawyer, an advocate sympathetic to his case, and also able to face God. What Job could only understand dimly, we can see clearly. God has provided an advocate, who allows us to stand fearlessly before God and be satisfied.
