In this chapter Jesus is making it very clear: It is possible, just like the Pharisees he is rebuking, to believe genuinely in a false gospel. To be firmly convinced you are under the favour of God when you are in fact still His enemy. To believe you are doing God’s work when you are actually serving His enemy. To think you are a Christian when you are not.
