Christ Became A Curse
There are two common reasons people take lightly, or fail to recognize the glory of what Jesus did for us on the cross. They do not comprehend just how holy God is on one hand, or just how sinful we are on the other. If God is not really holy and we are not really sinful, then Jesus did not accomplish much for us. So, in order to help the Galatians (and us) see the cross properly, the Apostle Paul points them to the Law of God, and the reality of our sinfulness so that they (and we) can begin perceive just a shadow of the glorious exchange Jesus accomplished for the world that day. Paul paints the crucifixion of Christ as it was in the language of the Old Covenant – bearing the curse that was intended for us. (Galatians 3:10-14)
