Baptism Of Jesus
When John began baptizing in the wilderness he infused the ritual with new meaning and purpose that pointed toward membership and new identity in the kingdom of heaven. Then Jesus arrives to be baptized Himself by John, and baptism is again infused with even greater meaning and significance that at first John protests, and then accepts. When Jesus is baptized, the One who was without sin identified Himself fully with those who were without righteousness. The Messiah joined us in our baptism so that we could join Him in His death and resurrection.
