No Middle Ground

Passage: Matthew 12:22–37

Make no mistake, there is a conflict of kingdoms taking place. As Jesus is confronted by hostile Pharisees He once again uses the opportunity to draw clear lines through the human heart. In a series of contrasts Jesus makes plain that there are two kingdoms, two powers, two allegiances, two natures, and two eternal outcomes. But this is not a conflict of equals, one kingdom has already "bound the strong man" and is even now plundering his house. There is no middle ground in this conflict, there are only the two kingdoms and everyone chooses either one or the other.
